Sundance got 8 inches of fresh powder this week, and I finally got to set skis on it. And wow. It was delicious. It took me the better part of a run to get my 'powder legs' back ;), but it was still a blast. I can already tell I'm getting to be a better skier just in this year. I'm not even close to where I would be if I'd stuck with it since I started, but oh well, that's just life.

Today my mom posted a JibJab on my wall. It is hilarious. I laughed harder than I have in a long time! Ah, simple pleasures. Life is beautiful.

If you want to watch the JibJab, it's http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/WMl1Y1NCs6ggGavj. But I warn you, it's rather ridiculous.

I know. I'm terrible. Seriously. I'm trying. But I left Thursday right after class to head up to the cabin (no internet access)... Which is not an excuse, I know! As far as I can tell I should be doing good now though.

My family's cabin is just north of Star Valley, Wyoming. And oh my goodness, it is so beautiful. I went on a two-hour hike through the snow, and it was lovely. Tough, that powder is a slog, but lovely. :) Life is beautiful.

Today was great! Even with a few skiing mishaps (I can be a bit of an airhead sometimes) it was a fantastic day. Gorgeous weather and fun runs. Although I won't lie, some snow would be great! A few of the runs are getting a little... grassy... Sad.

FHE was great tonight. We played Spoons and goofed around. I love how with my family (I'm the 'mom') we don't have to do anything elaborate, or cool, but everyone still has a great time. I love those kids. Life is beautiful.

Sunday, January 10

Oh my goodness! School snuck (sneaked?) up on me and I dismally failed the past week at this. I feel terrible, only 5 days into the New Year and one resolution already broken. Terrible. I've been skiing a couple times since my last post, and what a morale booster. I know I already commented on how gorgeous the mountains surrounding Provo are.... but they're gorgeous.

Because I'm driving up to Sundance four times a week, my parents decided to get me snow tires. Well, there's actually a story behind that. My grandparents live in Heber, Utah, and one day when I was visiting them, their neighbor saw my Bronco (my baby, I LOVE that car) in their driveway. Apparently he used to have a Bronco just like it but had sold it and had some now useless mounted snow tires just sitting in his garage. So he called my grandparents and said we could have them for free. So I went up there the other day and got them put on, it was less than $20 (labor) for pretty much a brand new set of snow tires! People are so nice. Life is beautiful.

First day of new semester - and I'm officially a sophomore (I passed all of my classes last semester!)! :D Yay! *celebration commences* Anyway, classes look good. I applied at Brick Oven today and well, I HATE job applications, I feel like an idiot doing them. But fingers crossed for me, I need a job so bad. I got to play with my dear Jessica, who's at BYU Hawaii - jealousy! - and was home in Provo for break. It was a good time, she is a fantastic lady. :) I hung out with some fabulous girls in my hall... had a great FHE... start Pilates asap... Things are looking great.

Looking at my schedule, and being in my classes, I feel so confident. I feel some A's coming on. Is life (and a positive attitude ;)) beautiful or what?!

Sunday, January 3

Today was super laid back- probably the last day like that for a while, but it was actually kind of boring, so I am definitely ready for classes to start. I ended up driving up to Salt Lake to pick up my friend from the airport, it was great to get out for a bit. It also made me feel so adult and self-sufficient. Yay. :)

It seems silly to say it, but having a car is so great. I'm so lucky! (Some would call it spoiled... ;)) I have never been for want in my entire life. I've always had what I need, plus a little extra. ;) Life is beautiful.

Saturday, January 2

I finally made it home to BYU. Having a break was great but it is definitely good to be back where I belong. :)

The mountains surrounding Provo are gorgeous - enough said! Life is beautiful.

Friday - January 1

Hello! Welcome!
As part of one of my New Year's Resolutions, I'm keeping this blog of the little things in life that make it beautiful. I hope that these little 'apples' keep the doctor away. ;)
For starters, I'm a sophomore at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. I just started my own photography business and so far it's been fantastic. My client base is miniscule but I love what I do. My biggest dream is to work for BYU doing sports photography and have my portrait work on the side.
2010 holds a lot of promise, and I'm excited to meet it (and all of its challenges!) head on.

My 18-month-old niece is obsessed with this ridiculous jack-in-the-box that is admittedly kind of creepy. But for some reason she loves it, and insists that we do it over and over. It gets old but seeing her thrilled reaction is totally worth it. Life is beautiful (and so is she).
